Child of Eden is a video game just out on the market that has received some great reviews. But what is it about? Child of Eden is about Project Lumi, this was a project that entailed trying to develop a human personality and insert it in Eden, the archive of all human memories. It is basically about protecting the artificial intelligence that is trying to be created within a program. In Child of Eden a virus invades the program, endangering the entire experiment. The goal of the player is to protect Eden and destroy the virus at the same time. It is a visually and auditory pleasure from beginning to end. There are not a lot of games out on the market that compete with a game like Child of Eden. It is a video game in its own realm and is a more futuristic way to play video games. Who does not enjoy a good sci-fi adventure?

Playing the Game

Child of Eden is an extremely enjoyable game for the player. It is visually pleasing with colorful, interactive graphics and beautiful music, background as well as created by playing the game. During Child of Eden, the player must shoot at objects that enter the screen, they can use a lock on approach or use a constant stream of bullets to take out their target. When the player does hit their target it produces a melodic sound which contributes to the fun of the game and making it seem a little less violent. Traditional controllers can be used with Child of Eden but it is much more fun to use Kinect to play the game. Kinect allows the player to use their hands to aim and when needing to change weapons they simply clap their hands. It is more interactive way to play Child of Eden than just using a traditional controller. There are five different levels to the game, they are called archives and are replayable, each level changing from the previous run. The five archives of Child of Eden are; Matrix, Evolution, Beauty, Passion and Journey.

Living up to the Hype

Child of Eden is an extremely upbeat, visually pleasing game for people of all ages. It is a rhythmic action game and if used with Kinect, it can promote a healthy level of physical activity. The colors are very vibrant and bring to mind a kaleidoscope as the player is moving through the game. In addition, the combination of the upbeat tempo of the music with the extreme visuals Child of Eden can induce very happy, peaceful feelings in the player. Child of Eden scored 8.5 out of 10 with game reviewers and ranked number eighty three among newly released games in the year 2010. It has seen an extremely positive reception in the gaming community. It does not promote the use of drugs or alcohol and it promotes physical activity. If looking for a way to get the kids off their behinds but still keeps them happy with a video game, consider Child of Eden.

Get your Plasma Cutters ready. The nasty flesh-eating necromorphs are back with a vengeance in the newly released Dead Space 2. In the second installment of the massively acclaimed horror sci-fi franchise, Dead Space 2 puts us back into Isaac Clarke’s shoes as we battle mutated human corpses in the terrifying world of Sprawl.

We begin Dead Space 2 with Isaac locked in a straightjacket inside a hospital in Sprawl. Isaac is released by Franco before the latter turns into a necromorph. Isaac tries to escape on his own. But along the way, Isaac is captured by Diana, a Unitologist, who deems him the original creator of the Marker, the device responsible for the mutation-inducing infection, thus requires him to build more. After a miraculous escape from Diana, Isaac begins his mission to destroy the markers with the help of survivors and visions of his girlfriend, Nicole.

Dead Space 2 is nothing short of frightening and exhilarating. Everything from graphics to musical score fits the very concept of the game. The already scary necromorphs are a lot scarier and more diversified in Dead Space 2 with the addition of new species like Pukers (whose screams are as horrible as their appearance) and the immensely grotesque crawlers. If the look of these necromorphs already had you running to mama, you can’t beat the equally eerie background music plus the random devices that come right at you at any moment.

But it goes without saying that Isaac got his own developments in Dead Space 2, too. Isaac’s developed kinesis abilities which allow him to pick up materials on the ground, like broken limbs, and use them against enemies. His weapons got better, too. The Plasma Cutter got a little upgrade, but that’s nothing compare to the new Javelin Gun, a spear gun that impales whoever it hits. Basically everything from the original Dead Space was given a touch up.

Dead Space 2 managed to achieve its primary goal and that is to infuse intense amount of horror in gaming. But perhaps creators have gone a bit too far especially with players having to contend with shooting mutated babies (crawlers). The added sidesplitting terror was there, but some players couldn’t handle having to kill these necromorphs especially with their human-like characteristics still somewhat intact. Note moral issues right here.

Basically, Dead Space 2 made the first one seem like a fancy walk in the park. Things are more hyped up in Sprawl, right now. But nevertheless the goal of the game is still the same: kill as many necromorphs as you can and keep safe while you’re at it.

If you’ve got an affinity for lonely deserts and horrendous alien monsters then Borderlands is one heck of a treat for you. Set in the barren world of Pandora, gamers can choose to play Roland the Soldier, Mordecai the Hunter, Lilith the Siren, or Brick in search for the Vault which holds amazing alien artifacts and great wealth. But finding the Vault isn’t a piece of cake for players have to go through quests and battle aliens and other non-playable characters.

Throughout the journey you will collect experience points, rewards and money which will be required to proceed. The experience points will be converted into skill points to unlock three specializations for your character such as gunslinging and sniping. The money acquired can also be used for skill allocation.

Borderlands is available for single-player, two-player and multiplayer of up to 4 people (connected online via LAN).

For people who like too shot, they’ll be immensely satisfied with the loads they’ll experience in Borderlands. Borderlands showcases a good selection of guns and devices of alien destruction. There’s a lot of action going on in every area. What’s best is that the game allows you to add people into the party. Going on multiplayer campaigns actually actually works best for what the game was intended for. Plus the characters you get to play are very interesting and each have their own way about them. And with the skills points, you can have your soldier develop medic skills to become capable of healing teammates in battle.

The visuals are just as good as the meat itself. The artistry of Borderlands is very unique and tasteful. Although the setting is supposedly a lonely, barren desert in some weird world, the setting is very appealing and it makes the entire journey a feast for the eyes.

The only problem that can suck the fun out of the Borderlands experience is when you’ve got none of your buddies up to play with you. Borderlands tends to be a bit dragging if you’re playing it alone. Then you’d find your character consistently looking at the ground in case you come across something interesting or important. Such looting system can be a pain if you haven’t figure out a rhythm yet.

Borderlands is one game you’d like to invite your friends over and play for hours on end. It’s fun, exciting and action-filled. You’ll absolutely find no room for boredom.

It seems like Gears Of War 2- the sequel to the brutal action- has potentially proved to be worthy of the huge hype.

Initially, it appeared as if the second version was sort of an extension of the original version, but it was amazing for gamers to find out a totally new game. Though, still the same cover system is present as known by Gears of Wars fans. The cover as well as the shoot system is excessively addictive integrating a whole new dimension within the game. Following this, is the striking visual characteristic of the game, where every small details is designed spotlessly, labeling Gears Of War 2 as the most graphically eye-catching game that ever came into existence.

However, unless and until you don’t indulge deeper into the game it’s not possible to learn about its actual potential. Whereas, majority of the shooter games happen to avoid the campaign with the intention of formulating an enhanced multiplayer environment, it is a treat for Xbox gamers to have both of features present in Gears Of War 2. Moreover, the campaign is intensified as well as enjoyable all through out the gaming session. As it provides credulous backdrops, unforgettable showdowns together with an appealing storyline, doubtlessly it keeps you clutching until the games concludes.

Next, it is the multiplayer of the Gears Of War 2 that takes to the upgraded level. The inclusion of numerous newly designed guns, bots, maps and obviously the Horde mode makes the new multiplayer exceptionally adventurous and unique. Needlessly to say, the original version of Gears of Wars has attained enormous popularity, with million of gamers across the globe playing it regularly online. Now, it seems the Gears Of War 2 is all set to beat the upsurge of popularity!

Breathing deeply, you sit up and look at the flawless white beaches of the tropical island you are anchored near. You glance at your watch then strain your ears for the sound of the returning jet-ski belonging to the journalist you were hired to bring to this island. The whir of an engine breaks the serenity, but it sounds bigger than a jet-ski.

Suddenly you are surrounded by helicopters. “It’s ok!” you shout waving your hands. “I have a fishing license!” In response, the helicopters shudder slightly, then swing sideways to reveal two 30 caliber machine guns that immediately open fire on your boat. Leaping for cover, you look up to find your boat in flames. With nowhere else to go, you leap off your burning vessel and into the shark-infested waters and begin swimming to the half-mile distance to shore. You are completely and utterly screwed.

…And that’s just the intro movie.

Continuing from the first Far Cry on the PC, the Xbox exclusive, Far Cry Instincts, places you once again in the role of Jack Carver, a water vessel operator and tourist guide contracted to transport an energetic female journalist to a tropical island to shoot photographs.

Shortly into the game, Carver finds himself injected with the same experimental serum that is being injected into laboratory animals granting him feral abilities. With these powers, Carver is gifted with the use of night vision, increased sprinting abilities, and powerful melee attacks that will send enemies careening into the sky.

It’s important to note that the feral abilities don’t make for an unfulfilling cop-out of the original gaming experience, especially during the second portion of the game where dark atmospheres are prevalent, requiring intelligent use of night vision. Large environments with little cover also require careful use of the sprinting ability. The game is an enjoyable experience due to the intelligent level design that capitalized on the best of your new-found abilities.

Though maps are more linear than it’s PC prequel, multiple options are always present in Far Fry Instincts giving the “illusion” of a world that is larger then it is. If you encounter a river, you can either run across the bridge guns blazing, throw rocks to distract and lure away enemies allowing you to sneak across, take a hang glider across the chasm, a boat…

The multiplayer potion of the game is extremely solid, allowing for split screen and online play. The inclusion of a map-editor adds to the overall value of the game. Maps can be created and uploaded to Xbox Live for others to download.

Xbox’s Far Cry Instincts is a complete gaming experience. A solid single player game with new game mechanics makes for a unique gaming experience. In addition, the inclusion of a robust multiplayer mode and map editor makes Xbox’s Far Cry Instincts an instant winner.

The pitch falls somewhere between Grand Theft Auto and STALKER: that is to say, a mission-based, vehicle-dominated sandbox title with an emphasis on ‘realistic’ combat. Placing straight-up first-person action in a freeform world is something that works perfectly, and it’s a wonder no one’s really attempted this before. Interspersing visceral gun battles with periods of quieter travelling, without worrying about the statistics or heavy exploration of its freeform role-playing counterparts, proves to be a mightily successful formula for the most part, adding real weight to the genre’s trigger-happy conventions. Far Cry 2 feels staggeringly natural in its enormity, and it’s hard to imagine it passing without a range of copycat efforts in the near future.

For one thing, even the most expertly crafted linear games have moments where it’s plainly obvious you’re being barred from entering somewhere. In Far Cry 2, this is simply never an issue. Even upon reaching the outer regions of the permitted playground, it feels like a perfectly natural place to stop. Almost all of its ramshackle buildings are enterable, all of its desert traversable. In this respect, and a great many others, Far Cry 2 takes immense care never to remove you from its gritty, war-torn world. It rarely funnels you down a specific path. It never breaks its first-person, in-game viewpoint – not even to look at a map. In every way that matters, Far Cry 2 is blisteringly immersive, from the first second until the very last.

It’s an isolating place, this conflict-ridden Africa, and the sense of sheer vastness to the environment can be beautifully overwhelming. Some may find the interesting approach to Far Cry 2′s opening confusing and unfocused – and, without any doubt whatsoever, it can be. But the premise is fresh and exciting. After a brilliant intro sequence, a short and unexpected meeting with The Jackal (an arms dealer you’ve been sent to kill) and a hasty escape from the town, you’ll find yourself dropped back into the world at one of four different locations – depending on which direction you chose to flee in. The characters you’ll meet, the faction you’re likely to side with and the hub of main missions you’ll undertake depend on your starting location, and your task is as vague as it gets: work out where The Jackal went, and kill him. Go.

It’s such a wonderful, open set-up that I ended up taking it for granted that each individual mission has a multitude of ways to complete it. Far Cry 2 introduces you to some key faces you might like to have a chat with, then holds your hand very little until the next big plot movement. My only reservation is that, as a result, there tend to be long stretches where the narrative gets put on hold, just to ensure everyone is moving through the story at the same pace. When it branches out, it does so admirably, but you know you’re always going to rendezvous with the other branches at the next predefined point.

I’m not usually one to harp on about the aesthetic qualities of a game, but with Far Cry 2 it’s particularly relevant. It looks amazing, though you already knew that. The pre-release screenshots have been wowing potential players for many months now. But these static images come nowhere close to conveying just how remarkable the Dunia engine is, and how far it goes to bringing this world to life. Wind howls through the trees, swaying their branches and rustling their leaves, casting astonishing dynamic shadows on the ground below. Throw a grenade and the ensuing blast radiates fire all around, which then spreads among the shrubs and grass until the entire area is ablaze. Groups of wildlife go about their everyday life, disturbed only by gunfire, traffic noise, or the threat of rain. As the sun sets, plumes of smoke from distant campfires peak over the horizon.

Far Cry 2 is all about the experience: living the game. For atmosphere alone, it’s almost unrivalled, and the gorgeously satisfying gunplay is some of my favourite in recent memory. In fact, Far Cry 2 gets so much thrillingly right that, when it lets itself down, it seems to do so far more dramatically than it should. It makes the sort of mistakes expected from a far inferior game, which is a crippling shame given the overriding quality on display here.

I’ve heard people complain about the respawning enemies: guard posts and check-points repopulate just a few minutes after you’ve cleared them out. I don’t see a problem with this – indeed, it’d be hard to imagine a different approach. If they died for good, it would be theoretically possible to spend the first few hours methodically picking off all opposition, then to simply drive from location to location until the end of the game. What does strike me as idiotic, though, is the over-zealous positioning of these guard posts on the map. It sounds an odd criticism of a shooting game, but there are just far too many enemies in Far Cry 2. Every minute or so of driving, there’s another set of militia blocking the way – and, unlike during the intro sequence, where you manage to talk your way past these baddies, fighting them off is the only option. As a result, the game often degrades into a repetitive structure of ‘drive, get out of car, kill guards, get back in car, repeat’, until finally arriving at the necessary location, where you’ll inevitably end up killing a whole lot more enemies. This doesn’t really affect the first few hours, while the childlike joy of this huge sandbox still remains, but once the repetitive nature of the game becomes apparent, it’s difficult to shake it from your mind.

The threat of being gunned down every few hundred yards also discourages the heady exploration that the free-roaming world compels you to engage in. There are some wonderful treasures to be found in Far Cry 2: brilliant locations, beautiful scenery and cases of diamonds. But when it’s highly likely that deviating from the path will result in your demise, it becomes infinitely more sensible to just stick to the set route of your current mission. Counter-intuitive, and disappointing. I also found myself getting lost an inordinate amount of times, largely thanks to a combination of winding roads, a fiddly map system and waypoint markers that disregard the giant, impassable mountain range in the centre of the first region.

I’m disappointed in the level of world-interaction, as well. You can shoot through the walls of a wooden hut, but lob a grenade through the door and the structure stays intact. The physics are fancy, but there’s no real way to take advantage of them. And there’s an odd glitch when trying to talk to characters, that means you have to be standing in exactly the right place for the ‘use’ button to work. Frustrating.

And the voice acting will split opinion, I would imagine. Personally, I liked it: it feels natural, flowing and understated, just like real speech is. I’ve talked to other people who think all the characters sound bored, or talk too quickly to understand. That might seem like a minor point, but with a story that’s often confusing as it is, having unintelligible NPCs could go some way to ruining your game. Tread carefully.

Ultimately, Far Cry 2 is carried by its two ‘I’s: immersion and innovation. It’s exciting, forward-thinking and unbelievably atmospheric: the closest anyone has yet come to a real, living, breathing world. But it also suffers from some questionable design choices, ones that limit the potential freedom and fun-factor this game strives so hard to provide. It’s almost brilliant, and future attempts to follow the same formula will undoubtedly prove even more successful. For now, Far Cry 2 is still an exceptionally enjoyable game, and an encouraging sign of things to come.

In Resident Evil 5, you will discover that the daylight is just as fearful as the shadows of the night.

The people of Kijuju are experiencing some difficult times; people are transforming into mindless, enraged creatures of the dark. The city is going mad; eyeballs are oozing, tentacles are sprouting out of the body and the citizens of Kijuju are becoming weary for blood.

It is up to you to save Kijuju.

Are you strong enough to accept this challenge and discovering what is happening to Kijuju?

The Sound

The sound in the game adds tension when needed, especially when the nerve-jumping music plays as enemies approach. The characters voices for the most part pretty good; you will find some pretty bad voices but for the most part they’re good.

The Graphics

One of the most gorgeous games of century, when you play the game you can not help yourself to stop and marvel at the job well done. The way the lighting and the landscape work together is just outstanding.

The Gameplay

In most games like Halo or Gears of War shooting a gun is babies play, but in Resident Evil 5 it’s a little bit more challenging which adds a whole new style to the gameplay.

Overall

Most games depend on competitive online multiplayer; Resident Evil 5 has ingeniously come up with a rare replayable game. Very few games are this way, and it works because there is so much detail and so many extra bonuses that every time you replay the game it’s almost like a completely different game.
